Safe Ministry

Under current regulations EVERY ADULT PERSON in QLD is legally obligated to report to police any sexual abuse of children.

The Anglican Diocese of Brisbane is committed to the wellbeing of children and vulnerable people in all our ministries. We have implemented a number of policies and procedures to ensure there is a safe environment for all people to whom the Church ministers.

If you are seeking to operate within ministry at a voluntary level you will need to complete training and a number of checks depending on the position .

Training and checks include:

Child Protection Training,

Professional Ethics Training,

National Police Check,

Safe Ministry Check,

National Register Check, and

hold a Blue Card

As a minimum standard, the Diocese conducts a Safe Ministry Check and requires all holding positions within the church to hold a Blue Card to assist in selecting the most appropriate and qualified person for ministries which include working with children, young and vulnerable people. Training and checks are part of the Diocese’s processes for recruitment and does not mean that we have any reason to believe that any applicant has engaged in inappropriate conduct.

The information you provide to us in completing the all Checks will be kept by the Parish in a secure place in accordance with privacy legislation. This information will be used only for screening – except when required by Queensland law or for Church disciplinary processes.
